Movies I Watched Last Week

I’m now on the second season of Supernatural. It’s still not bad, and I still like the music. :-)

Little Mermaid II? Meh.

Watched Howl’s Moving Castle for the Bajillionth time. Love, love, love it.

It was kinda cool watching The Guild episodes back to back. They really flow nicely.

I also streamed Lost and The Forgotten.

Movies I watched last month

Oops, it’s been awhile since I’ve done a movie post. Here are the movies I’ve seen recently:

We finished up series one and two of Torchwood and watched Torchwood: Children of Earth, which is only five episodes but is considered series three. A couple of things that pretty much sum up Torchwood – lots of man on man kissing and killing off of our favorite characters!! Oh well. Still planning on watching series four.

The Incredible Mr. Limpet? Don Knotts ftw!

Watched a few episodes of The Pink Panther from the Classic Cartoon Collection. Awesome!

I always watched The Jetsons when I was younger, so I thought I’d give Jetsons: The Movie a try. Gag me with a f%&%@#$ pitchfork. One word: Tiffany.

I love Chris Rock, but found Saturday Night Live – The Best of Chris Rock to be not as funny as it should have (could have?) been.

I enjoyed Gulliver’s Travels with Ted Danson more than I thought I would. The 1996 special effects were far more realistic than a lot of cgi I’ve seen.

The Hurt Locker was very well done. I don’t know if I would consider it Oscar worthy aside from the cinematography and direction, but Sandra Bullock and Jeff Daniels won Academy Awards so it’s pretty much a joke. Wow, that wasn’t very nice of me. I haven’t even seen the movies they won them for, but they must have vastly improved as actors since the last movies I saw them in. I still have no desire to watch Avatar. Ten foot tall Smurf-elves just don’t appeal to me. I’ll definitely Netflix the DVD when it comes out. I know it won’t be the same as seeing it in the theater because, “you absolutely have to see it in 3D on the big screen.” I’ll probably love it too, haha.

We went to see Alice in Wonderland last night. I thought it was great! We didn’t see it in 3D, so it was especially obvious when they threw in the gratuitous 3D shots. Also, the cgi was a tad disappointing since a lot of it still looks so fake. I generally prefer classic special effects (e.g. miniatures), however cgi backgrounds are amazing.

We finally bought Ponyo since we are huge Miyazaki fans. I’m not sure it will be one of my all time favorites, but it was still great!

Oh, I’ve also started watching Supernatural. I saw an Interview with Mark Pellegrino (Jacob on Lost) who plays Lucifer in season five of Supernatural, so I thought I’d give it a chance and watch from the beginning. So far so good. The best part for me is the music!

Movies I Watched Last (Few) Week(s)

I finished up Life on Mars (UK) and started Ashes to Ashes, which I’ve also finished. Now I’m watching Torchwood – I’m on season 2. I guess it’s a spinoff of the new Doctor Who, which I haven’t yet seen. Guess I’d better get on that one, too. And…………….. LOST is back!!!! Yay!!! Can you tell I’m happy about that? :P Here are the movies I watched (or attempted to watch):

I only lasted through about ten minutes of Class of Nuke ‘em High. I’m all for bad ’80s movies, but this one is atrocious.

The Gamers: Dorkness Rising. Awesome. Especially if you are (or live with) a gamer. Watched this one twice!

I only watched one episode of Happy Tree Friends. What can I say? Cute little cartoon characters dying horrible gory deaths.

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure – It had been a long time since I’d seen this! Large Marge ftw.

My first time watching Monsters, Inc. Not bad!

The Human Face: Face to Face – very interesting. And? John Cleese!!!

Second Skin: “this documentary showcases how computer games’ virtual worlds are transforming the lives of ordinary people, profiling a couple who fall in love online, a man addicted to playing games for hours on end and a tight-knit Indiana gaming community.” I was enjoying this until it got effed up. Netflix needs to redo the stream!

The Little Princess – I love Shirley Temple!!

Wow, it’s been a long time since I saw The Professionals. Burt Lancaster and Lee Marvin! I love the old westerns.

I only watched a little of Ghostbusters 2. Not in the mood, I guess. I hear they’re making Ghostbusters 3!

The Siege of Firebase Gloria – R. Lee Ermey!!! Need I say anything more?

Full Metal Jacket – Once again, R. Lee Ermey!!! I only watched up until he got blown away by Pyle. It was really late and I couldn’t keep my eyes open for the rest.

Movies I Watched Last Week

What can I say about The Pineapple Express? The humor is juvenile as are the situations the characters find themselves in, but it was still funny.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop – Just like Die Hard! But with a fat guy.

I hadn’t seen Foul Play in at least two decades (ouch). Funny of course, and I love the footage of San Francisco.

The Hunger features David Bowie as a dying vampire. It was kinda slow paced, or maybe I was just tired. I only lasted 42 minutes. My favorite part was the Bauhaus song at the beginning.

Was Race to Witch Mountain supposed to be a sequel? I’m not sure if I could smell what The Rock was cookin’. Typical Hollywood fare, but watchable.

Modern Marvels – The Manhattan Project: Cool.

Three words: Glowing blue schlong. I think I might have enjoyed The Watchmen more if I’d read the graphic novels.

The surfers are amazing in The Billabong Odyssey (of course). We weren’t in the mood for the fully documentary experience, so we skipped to the actual surfing bits.

Inglourious Basterds is classic Quentin Tarantino. A lot of ultraviolence, but with a good story (ESSENTIAL). I enjoyed it!

It Happened One Night – watching old movies on a rainy day is nice. :)

Movies I Watched Last Week

We got rid of cable television a few years ago, so if we do watch anything, it’s movies. Here’s what I watched last week:

I know it’s old, but I’d never seen The Boondock Saints. Willem Dafoe cracked me up!

Shutter is in Thai with English subtitles. I thought it was great! I’m really beginning to like Thai movies.

A Tale of Two Sisters – Korean with Subtitles. The blood! The crazy! Pretty good. :)

I didn’t make it through ten minutes of Tokyo Gore Police.

Caddyshack = Classic!

Time After Time. Hmmm. It was pretty corny, but it had Malcolm McDowell! As H.G. Wells! I wouldn’t watch it again, but I’m glad I saw it.

I only made it through three minutes of The Ramen Girl. Gag.

Jack Palance! I watched The Swan Princess with my daughter. It was pretty good, but would have been better without the “original soundtrack.” You can’t outdo Tchaikovsky.

After about five minutes, I fast-forwarded to the part where Jesus dons his superhero outfit and becomes Ultrachrist!, fighter of sin. The description was funnier than the actual movie.
