Charles Dickens – The Personal History of David Copperfield

I call Leo, “You DOG!” about 40 times a day. I got it from my Dad who got it from his favorite book, David Copperfield: “You dog, I’ll know no more of you.” Google scanned this 1886 copy. Enjoy!

2010: Living in the Future

2010: Living in the Future is Geoffrey Hoyle’s vision of what things should be like this year! Some of them aren’t too far off, although we aren’t all wearing colorful jumpsuits. Daniel Sinker has posted the entire book: Click here.

Hello, Cupcake!

My brother and sis-in-law gave me this book for my birthday. I just baked some cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday, so this will be great for inspiration!

Stephen King – Cell

Just finished reading this. I hear it’s going to be made into a movie in a couple of years. I kind of hope they change the ending, like they did in The Mist.

Sylvester and the Magic Pebble

One of my very favorite books. :D

“What’s Happening to Me?”

“What’s Happening to Me?” is one of the books that all of my siblings and I remember vividly from adolescence. The pictures are hilarious, and it’s as relevant today as ever. A few weeks ago I ordered a hardcover version of this book from an Amazon seller. What a trip…

Agartha

Since there are now hundreds of easily accessible books in the family room, I thought I’d look for something to read. Unfortunately for me, 99% of those books are of the Sci-Fi or Fantasy genre. This is not a necessarily a bad thing, but does pose some problems if I feel like reading anything other than those two genres. I settled on a book called “Abduction“, by Robin Cook. It reads a lot like a Star Trek (The original series) episode where everyone is beautiful and perfect, and goes around wearing togas. The ending reminded me a whole lot of a Choose Your Own Adventure story. That’s not to say “Abduction” is a bad book, but it did have me rolling my eyes more than a few times.

Why am I mentioning this book? It’s because the Hollow Earth theory features prominently, which is one of the theories involving the mysterious Island in LOST. I know, I know. I’m obsessed. It’s the only show I watch though, so please forgive me. Agartha is the name of the land of a highly advanced society that lives in the Earth’s Core. Shambhala (one of many spellings) is believed to be the capital city of Agartha. The song “Shambala” by Three Dog Night was played during the scene where Hurley and Sawyer were driving around in the old Dharma VW bus on LOST. Anyway, my point is not to get into theories about LOST, but to have an excuse to play the song. Click the link below and enjoy. :-)

How Babies Are Made

Vox QotD (Question of the Day): Who was the first person to give you info — correct or not — on how to “make babies”?

I’m not sure who the first person was, but this is the book that explained it all. In fact, I still have it!
